Creation and Study

The Chinese Academy of Oil Painting is an affiliate of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, and is a national-level art institute for the creation, study and teaching of oil painting. The creation and study of oil painting is the primary purpose of the Academy. Since the founding of the Academy, resident and guest artists have used the rich academic resources of the Chinese National Academy of Arts as the foundation for their artistic creation and study. They have chosen the reverence of eternity and celebration of the classics as their academic basis; the inheritance and development of art centered on the values of truth, good, and beauty as their mission; and the pursuit of aesthetics as the core of art. On these foundations, our artists can advance international artistic exchange, develop and expand national oil painting with Chinese characteristics, promote the brand-new development of Chinese oil painting study and creation in contemporary China, and gradually lead Chinese oil painting to a higher and newer spiritual level.
