艺术是艺术家综合素养的产物，它已超越了物质层面（绘画技法）的诉求，而更多的是隐含在艺术家背后的学养和思考，它是艺术家在艺术之外的寻求，有利于艺术的长久发展。中国油画院开展的人文讲座即是出于此种考虑，特别邀请社会各人文学科领域的学者对其多年研究的成果进行阐述，并与中国油画院师生进行深入的交流和探讨。所涉及的领域有哲学、宗教学、文学、历史学、社会学等其他艺术学科。
Art is the product of the artist’s comprehensive attainment; more than merely an appeal to superficial material techniques, it is a vessel for the artist’s education and philosophy. A work of art is the culmination of the artist’s pursuits beyond art, and it is this which allows for the perpetual development of art. The humanities lectures organized by the Academy, based on this principle, invite scholars from all fields of the humanities to present the results of their many years of research and engage in deep exchange and discussion with teachers and students of the Academy. Relevant fields include philosophy, religious studies, literature, history, sociology and other humanities and social sciences.
